Employees count - and tell their personal stories
A look behind the scenes at René Gerber AG:
The commitment of our employees and their enjoyment of the various activities are what makes us a success. We all pull together, learn from each other and work together on our projects with passion and enthusiasm. Transparency and open communication play always a major role. Get an insight into the story of the people that are committed to Gerber. This week we therefore take a closer look into assembly and introduce you to:
Kurt & Kevin Hert:
Kurt Hert is our longest-working employee. He started his René Gerber career in 1981 with an apprenticeship as a machine mechanic. From 1987 onwards he was responsible for the conventional machining of individual parts, in particular clamping mandrels. These posed a particular challenge, as they each had to meet special customer requirements. From 1987 onwards, he was able to expand his area of responsibility to include the overall production of turning, milling, deburring and honing.
Kurt experiences the business takeover by Marc Schori in 2017 as extremely positive. Old traditions continue to be lived, innovations are being driven forward. There are new structures that make it possible to be personally involved. Good teamwork and a flat hierarchy make for a great working environment. Promoted for further training by the new management two years ago, Kurt has now been responsible for CNC turning and milling.
Time has passed quickly and meanwhile Kurt counts 42 years with the René Gerber AG and still comes to work with pleasure and motivation. Despite hectic phases and numerous areas of responsibility, he masters the daily challenges of everyday work calmly and with the necessary serenity. He is pleased that he can work independently in "his realm - the workshop" – and enjoys holding a result in his hands after a day of work. His built-up know-how over the years including the constant changes in the digital world allow him to still manufacture all parts in-house if necessary.
High qualitative demands on himself and his work make him a valuable employee on whom René Gerber AG can hopefully count for many more years to come.
In 2013, his son Kevin joins him. Contrary to beliefs, Kevin does not find his way in through his father but learns about a vacant apprenticeship position as a polytechnician at René Gerber AG through a material request from his former employer. Since his father had always raved about his employer, he seized the opportunity and applied. All worked out well and after his first year he was given the opportunity to switch internally to assembly for the remaining years of his apprenticeship. Kevin's motivation is great, he loves his job, and the demands he makes on himself are high (came out as 3rd best apprentice in the region). After further training at the higher technical college, he remains true to his profession. The variety and freedom are too valuable for him. However, his range of tasks expands constantly and includes now the assembly of electronic control plates.
Kevin experiences the change in management as a "breath of fresh air", which gives him a lot of incentive. Thanks to ongoing innovations and new developments, his job remains an exciting challenge that he enjoys tackling every day. He also appreciates being able to provide technical input and working in a great team. After almost 10 years, Kevin has been able to build up a valuable and broad know-how of the entire machine fleet that is manufactured at Gerber. He is happy to pass on his valuable experience to his colleagues.
René Gerber AG is a perfect mix of experienced employees and new talents. Would you like to know more about us? Then stay tuned!
