René Gerber has rough diamonds in use - as Gyro Gearloose in a modern suit
Andreas Marti, CTO - René Gerber AG
Text zum BildBorn in 1973, Andreas Marti grew up in Messen in the canton of Solothurn and, even as a young boy, had the desire to do the same as Gyro Gearloose. At the tender age of 16, he unconsciously set the first course for his career in the direction of inventor with his training as a mechanic. He intensified his training, became a technician, and then went on to specialize in mechanical engineering.
Andreas Marti finances his studies as an academic lecturer in a functional complementary position. In retrospect it turns out to be a clever move. Was it intentional or a coincidence? His work as a lecturer improves his communication skills, among other things. His goal - in keeping with his nature – remains ambitious, determined. The sky is his limit.
The communicative and innovative engineer has not had enough of this for a long time. After completing his studies, he joined Feintool as head of engineering tools and soon became a valuable part of the company in Lyss. It is easy to see that Andreas Marti follows Gyro Gearloose’s motto "Nothing to fear for an engineer", and basically questions everything to get answers that do not exist at first glance.
Andreas Marti is a hard worker despite his undisputed talent. Good is generally not good enough for him. His sporting ambition is reflected in his professional successes. Sovereign results are in the foreground.
When he learns that the head of Feintool's Competence Centre is planning to retire, it falls into place for Andreas Marti: "This is the position I want". At the same time, he realizes that this new position will allow him to go straight to the heart of the company's technical knowledge. His ideas can be implemented with the support of his team. Success is not long in coming. Marti and his team receive patents for three of his inventions in the field of fine blanking technology.
Slowly, an even greater change in the development of drive technology is becoming apparent, especially among major customers. New impulses are needed, a trend reversal is imminent. The shift to electromobility and environmental protection is becoming apparent.
The growth dynamic in Europe is therefore slowing down, especially in the transmission and engine sector. Thus, new projects from major customers such as Daimler Benz, BMW, etc., are stagnating.
After 12 years at Feintool - including 5 years as a member of the Management Board and Head of the Competence Centre - Andreas Marti, a true visionary, decided to take on a new challenge. He moves to Hänggi GmbH in Bettlach and becomes CTO. In addition to further technical development, application development and prototyping, he increasingly concentrated his efforts on strategic orientation and business development. In line with this, he completes a further education: MBA - Innovation Management.
In his mid-40s, rich in professional experience and further training, a trend reversal in the automotive industry in sight - all factors that encourage him to take on yet another completely new challenge.
With the change to René Gerber AG, however, Andreas Marti remains true to himself. Technology, strategy, and communication always stay his focus. The much smaller René Gerber AG fascinates him. In addition to flat hierarchies, a very open culture of discussion, long-standing employees, and creative freedom, a very dynamic corporate culture awaits him. As the new CTO, Marti can directly demonstrate his strategic skills. Together with the management, he is working on a new strategic direction for the company. The dynamic environment allows him to demonstrate his technical, communicative, and strategic skills once again.
Quality and consistency are important to the René Gerber AG. With innovative approaches to solutions, it wants to meet the highest precision demands in manufacturing. The shared passion for engineering, the newly developed strategic orientation, and the ability to implement the various needs of customers in a timely manner form the necessary basis. As an expert in all aspects of stamping and forming technology, Andreas Marti is optimizing the current BP Motion brush polishing machine and developing a new generation of machines for deburring, honing, and polishing in collaboration with his team.
His new tasks require his great flexibility, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills as well as his technical brilliance. As CTO, he also enjoys representing René Gerber AG in front of larger audiences. The company relies largely on his communication and management skills.
Fairness and honesty are just as important to Andreas Marti as motivation, development, perspectives, and a future. He is an inventor and visionary - thanks to him, Gerber can hope for further innovations and thus profitable projects.
